When I started losing my hair in my mid-twenties, I spent years trying to hide it. I'd always had thick, long hair, and accepting that it was disappearing wasn't easy. Like many men, I believed my hair defined part of who I was.

Eventually, I realised something important: confidence doesn't come from what's on your head - it comes from how you carry yourself.

Shaving my head changed far more than my appearance. It changed my mindset. It replaced insecurity with acceptance and eventually with genuine confidence.

Today, more than two decades later, I'm proud to be bald.

The Baldy Brand exists to celebrate that confidence. We're not about covering up. We're about showing up. Proudly.

Because bald isn't something to apologise for.

It's something to own.

I've had some genuinely questionable hairstyles in my time. As a teenager I went through phases that, looking back, should have come with a public apology. Then in my late twenties I grew dreadlocks and kept them for years, fully convinced I'd nailed my look for life.

My thirties had other plans. My hair started thinning, and eventually there was no getting around it: the dreads had to go. Cutting them off wasn't just a haircut. It forced me to properly confront what "growing older" and "being a man" actually meant to me, and that hit harder than I expected.

What I didn't expect was how quickly that discomfort turned into something else. These days I actually find shaving my head therapeutic, five minutes with a razor and I feel sharper, calmer, more myself.

I wear my bald head with pride now. No comb-over, no apologising for it.
